Abstract
Since January 2013, observations of atmospheric transparency in the wavelength range of 0.34–2.14 μm have been conducted at the Antarctic Mirny observatory, which are used to determine the aerosol optical depth (AOD) and water vapor content of the atmosphere. In this work, the results of five-year cycle of measurements of spectral AOD of the atmosphere in the Antarctic region are summarized: we present statistical characteristics, and estimate the seasonal and interannual variations and interrelations with meteorological parameters. Comparison with data, obtained earlier in this region, showed that aerosol turbidity remains at stably low level during two recent decades: the average AOD value at the wavelength of 0.5 μm is 0.026±0.011.
