Abstract
Because of the discontinuity at the node of broadband multisection directional coupler, its performance is poor at high frequency. Based on this structure, the gradient line coupler is developed. In order to avoid discontinuity and achieve the minimum design error, this paper uses optimization algorithm to calculate and optimize the structure of the tapered line coupler. A 6-18GHz gradient line coupler is designed by mathematical formula and genetic algorithm, and uses the three layers bias stripline as the transmission line. After optimization and simulation, the results show that the return loss is above 16dB, the coupling is 3.09 ± 0.25dB, and the phase difference is 91 ± 2°. This design method has better results than other methods.
