Abstract
In this paper a new image segmentation method is presented that use modified Mahalanobis-distance (M-Mahalanobis- distance) as a criterion to classify the pixels in the (gray level, average gray level) scatter plot. The experiment results show that this algorithm can give better segmentation results with stronger robustness and faster speed for an image with low contrast, many details and noises.
