Abstract
The dynamical theory of x-ray diffraction is extended in the form of an explicitly time-dependent synthesis of the Takagi-Taupin and eikonal theories of x-ray diffraction. Being based upon microscopic electromagnetism, the theory can describe time dependence on subpicosecond timescales. Several x-ray optical elements are proposed for the subpicosecond manipulation of x-rays.
