Abstract
Today we are up against the puzzle that how to acquire the three-dimensional (3D) information of power transmission efficiently and quickly. In this paper, we design and implement a 3D reconstruction method of power transmission. On the basis of two-dimensional geographic information system (2D GIS) and DEMs data, the 3D modeling methods of power transmission and attached establishment is discussed through 3D extending. In the light of the features of virtual terrain environment database on 3D power transmission GIS, an approach is described to establish a terrain environment database. This approach is based on grid index and pyramid database structure, aims at National Spatial Data Infrastructure. The virtual terrain environment database integrates the terrain geometry data and the terrain texture data. In order to organize 3D model data, the traditional 2D GIS database is extended. At last an application of case example is given. The 3D power transmission GIS of FuJian province is reconstructed by applying these methods. The practice has proved that they are suitable and feasible for the reconstruction of 3D power transmission.
