Abstract
Y2O3 nanocrystals doped with rare-earth ions have attracted considerable interest because of their chemical and thermal stability and their possible application in the light emitting devices and three-dimensional displays. Trivalent-rare-earth ion-doped Y2O3 nanoparticles have been synthesized, and their spectroscopic studies have been carried out using visible laser excitation. The size of the nanoparticles has been estimated using atomic force microscope and scanning electron microscope.
