Abstract
L-system is an important way for plant modeling. In this method growth details of the complex plant structure and morphology are characterized through setting a basic or improved production rule, then rewriting and interpreting the growth string again and again. Based on the basic L-System and some improved L-System methods the 2D and 3D plant simulation algorithms are designed, many key technologies during implementing them are discussed, finally a VC++ and OPENGL based simulation platform is constructed. Some simulation results from this platform verify its effectiveness.
