Abstract
In order to examine the applicability of different hydrological models in the Laoha River Basin which is located in a semi-humid and semi-arid region, the Xin'anjiang model and the vertically-mixed rainfall-runoff model were employed to the Xiquan and the Chutoulang sub-basins in the Laoha River Basin with the same time series of data from 1970 to 2003, and the simulated results were compared and analyzed. The results revealed that the simulation accuracy of the vertically-mixed rainfall-runoff model for flood events simulation is higher than that of the Xin'anjiang model in both sub-basins. Besides, the simulation accuracy of the vertically-mixed rainfall-runoff model in the Chutoulang sub-basin is higher by a comparison with that in the Xiquan sub-basin.
