The Journal of Electronic Imaging, copublished by IS&T and SPIE, publishes papers in all technology areas that make up the field of electronic imaging and are normally considered in the design, engineering, and applications of electronic imaging systems.

Regular papers: Submissions of regular papers are always welcome.
Special section papers: Open calls for papers are listed below. A cover letter indicating that the submission is intended for a particular special section should be included with the paper.

The Journal of Electronic Imaging (JEI) invites submissions to a special section on the topic of light field imaging to foster the exchange of ideas and experiences among the light field imaging community and to showcase the latest advances and applications in the field. Participants in the second European Light Field Imaging Workshop (ELFI 2024) are welcome to submit extended works based on their workshop presentations, though the section is open to anyone working in the area of light field imaging.
The special section will cover various topics related to multidimensional signal processing, visual computing, neuroscience, and AI, optics, and physics.
Appropriate topics include but are not limited to:
Manuscripts should conform to the JEI author guidelines. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their manuscript through the online submission system at https://jei.msubmit.net. The special section should be mentioned in the cover letter. Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. Peer review will commence immediately upon manuscript submission, with a goal of making a first decision within six weeks.

The field of electronic imaging is very broad and includes many fast-evolving sub-directions that might be of interest to our broader community of readers.
The structure of this type of manuscript should include a comprehensive review of scientific milestones achieved/performed on the proposed topic as well the perspectives of the authors on the future scientific and technological evolution of the field and its eminent impact on society.
This special call for papers invites leading researchers doing research in various sub-fields related to electronic imaging to submit a pre-manuscript proposal/draft to the journal to be evaluated. If found suitable, a full manuscript will be invited from the authors.
