Profile Summary

Luigi Belcastro studied biomedical engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy), where he got his MSc in 2018 with a specialization in medical imaging and data processing. As a part of his thesis work, he did a 6 months internship at Imperial College (London) where he conducted a finite elements simulation study of the effects of high-frequency electromagnetic waves on nerve tissue. He is currently employed as a PhD student at Linköping University (Sweden) at the department of biomedical engineering, working with the Biomedical Optics research group. His current research involves spectral imaging techniques for diagnosis of skin conditions, such as burn wounds, and development of models for light scattering in tissue.
