■ Martin Fally studied mathematics and physics at the University of Vienna, Austria. Master degree in physics & mathematics (high-school teacher) 1991, PhD in Physics in 1996, habilitation (professorial qualification) in 2003. Since then professor extraordinarius. In 2003/2004 he held a visiting professorship at the University of Osnabrueck, Germany. Vice-Dean (2015-2018, two terms) and Dean (2018-2022) of the Faculty of Physics, University of Vienna.
■ Focus of Research: Neutron optics and neutron interferometry based on holographically patterned nonlinear optical media, neutron diffraction and diffraction theories, materials science (polymer-liquid crystals, polymer-nanoparticle composites)
■ Authored or co-authored a patent, 4 book chapters and more than 90 publications in renowned international journals covering the fields of holography, neutron-diffraction, photorefractive materials, holographic techniques, diffraction theories, interferometry
