Abstract
We analyzed the space overlap of laser transverse modes inside cavity of a Tm:YAP laser and derived the formulae of laser pump power distribution on variable harmonic transverse modes. The method for reducing the influences of high-order transverse mode on laser output beam quality are put forward and validated by experiments, the results can be used in the designing of such lasers.
