Imaging of an earth analog is a major milestone for the exoplanet science and the instrumentation community. Coronagraphs relay on the DM resolution and stability to be able to achieve contrast of 1e10 at an angular separation of a fraction of an arcsecond. In this paper we describe our experience working with DMs and show that the device resolution and stability are defined by the electronics performance instead of the properties of the DM itself. We describe our effort to advance the DM electronics to achieve 19-bit resolution and long term stability with the goal of overcoming any coronagraph contrast limitations imposed by the driving electronics.
