Abstract
Because of evolutionary breakthroughs in manufacturing methods and technology in prosthetics, the future of combining modern modularization of products and prostheses has become a new target in developing COTS prostheses for a broader consumer group. This paper investigates the capabilities and prospects of modularized prosthetic limbs by analyzing existing research, evaluating existing products, and generalizing existing findings. The paper concludes that the future capabilities of prosthetic limbs are promising, but it is a difficult task to fully utilize their capabilities in an applicable approach.
