Abstract
In recent years, there have been an increasing number of traffic accidents resulting in fatalities and injuries due to collisions between the passengers or drivers opening the car door and objects coming from behind. The attention from OEMs on door opening warning (DOW) systems is insufficient, and the proportion of vehicles equipped with DOW system is not high. At present, there are no national standards and testing protocols published for DOW system in China, and there is a lack of unified requirements on the functions of DOW system. Based on the analysis of relevant accident data and traffic scenarios in China, as well as research on existing domestic and international protocols and standards, testing scenarios for DOW system that meet the real road traffic conditions in China will be included in the 2024 version C-NCAP Protocol. The author briefly explains the analysis results of accident data related to DOW system; introduces the testing scenarios as well as evaluation criteria for DOW system in 2024 version C-NCAP Protocol; elaborates on the newly developed targets with Chinese characteristics.
