Abstract
This paper investigates the key technologies for the development of a low-pressure natural gas energy metering system. The research is directed towards the development of a mathematical model of the relationship between the density of natural gas and its calorific value, and towards the realization of energy metering of low-pressure natural gas. In addition, a simple device is designed in this paper to assist the study. The device mainly consists of a gas standard density measurement system, a gas standard flow measurement system and a PLC control system. To simulate real-world situations where natural gas of different calorific values needs to be measured, the device is connected to four natural gas cylinders of different compositions, which are used to verify and calibrate the accuracy of the device.
