Abstract
Interferometric fiber-optic sensor arrays of the Mach-Zehnder type are subject to performance degradation attributed to polarization-induced signal fading1. Envfronmentally-related polarization drifts in the sensor arms change the relative polarization states of the interfering beams, leading to critical changes in the sensor scale factor and output S/N ratio up to complete signal fading2.
