A formula for the band structure energy Ubs of simple liquid metals in the terms of the interference function a(q) is derived. Ubs is evaluated both for experimental and theoretical shape of a(q). Although the contribution of Ubs to the total energy is small, it is suggested that presented formalism could be used for other atomic properties, where its role is expected to be more pronounced.
