Abstract
Past three decades have witnessed significant research activities and accomplishments in the robotics field. These efforts have resulted in a whole array of useful system most notably for our factories and military. In this paper we discuss a new approach for developing useful robotic systems for much wider applications. The main idea is to simplify the robotic system by eliminating the sensory and control hardware from the robotic platform. Such 'sensor-less' system have significant advantages over the more traditional 'sensor-driven' systems. The paper discusses this issue and presents results of a roving robots that require no onboard sensing or control.
