Abstract
A short laser pulse of 8 ps duration can be produced by a diode-pumped and passive mode-locked Nd:YAG laser, and the laser pulse energy is less than 6 nJ, so its application is greatly limited (for example: the photoinjector). Such laser pulses of lower energy can be amplified by the active Nd:YAG glass, but during the amplification, besides the laser pulse energy, the variation of the pulse energy stability and pulse duration is concerned. In the paper, the experiment results and the process than cause such variation are presented.
