Abstract
Interframe coding techniques exploiting temporal redundancy of T.V. signals, have been extensively used in order to reduce the bandwith (bit rate) required to transmit these signals. In most cases interframe coding was applied to videoconference signals, where the scene -head and shoulders- has special dynamic features like slow motion, uniform background and no camera motion. Coding efficiency of this technique falls off rapidly when the amount of motion increases, as in broadcast T.V. signals where several moving objects and/or camera movements are present at the same time.
