Abstract
In this paper the problem of variable delay filter implementation based on the Farrow structure is discussed. The idea of such an implementation is to calculate, for each required delay, coefficients of fractional delay filter impulse response using delay independent polynomials. This approach leads to significant decrease of computational costs in applications which require frequent delay changes. Achieved computational complexity reduction is especially important in case of recursive optimal filters design methods. In this paper we demonstrate that quality and properties of fractional delay filters optimal in Chebyshev sense can be retained even for low orders of the Farrow structure.
