15 May 2006 A new approach for object measurement under out-of-focus situation

Abstract
Accurate measurement is important for object detection, pattern recognition, object classification, and industry inspection. Digital image processing techniques have been used to improve the accuracy of object measurement. However, it is still challenging to measure an object, especially when the camera was out-of-focus during the imaging acquisition step. Sometimes, it is even impossible to measure the blurred object. In this paper, the Gaussian degradation model is used to estimate the edges and the size of the object. Currently this approach is for measure one-dimension. This approach can use to measure (almost) totally blurred object. The experiments show encouraging results.
