Abstract
We present the results of experimental research of a novel recirculating fiber ring interferometer (RFRI) with intracavity erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and superfluorescence fiber source at wavelength near 1.55μm. Being used as a rotation sensor, the interferometer provides 16 times higher scale factor and 4 times better threshold sensitivity (detectivity) than the equivalent perfect Sagnac interferometer. It is shown that further increase in the RFRI sensitivity is limited by dynamic, nonlinear and noise characteristics of the EDFA.
