Abstract
Recently the U.S. Army Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate released a revision to the target acquisition models. The Targeting Task Performance (TTP) metric represents a significant improvement in the U.S. Army's target acquisition modeling capabilities. The purpose of this paper is to describe the experiments and calculation methodologies behind generating the task difficulty parameter (V-50) value used in the model to predict range performance. Included in this paper are experimental designs for recognition and identification tasks for various target sets. Based upon the results to these experiments new V-50 values are calculated to provide proper guidance for the most accurate performance predictions possible.
