Abstract
In this paper, a new video coding system combining 3-D complex dual-tree discrete wavelet transform with vector SPIHT and arithmetic coding is proposed, and tested on standard video sequences. First the 3-D DTCWT of each color component is performed for video sequences. Then the wavelet coefficients are grouped to form vector, and successive refinement vector quantization techniques is used to quantize the groups. Finally experimental results are given. It shows that the proposed video codec provides better performance than the 3D-DTCWT and 3D-SPIHT codec, and the superior performance for the proposed sheme lies in not performing motion compensation.
