Linear System Theory
Abstract
Linear filter theory was developed for electronic circuitry and has been applied to optical, electro-optical, and mechanical systems. Linear filter theory forms an indispensable part of system analysis. Spatial domain analysis becomes quite complex for even simple electro-optical imaging systems. It is far easier to perform calculations in the frequency domain. Fourier transforms link the spatial and frequency domains.
