Abstract
Simulation results are presented for the accumulated phase change in cascaded Kerr phase modulators. The results indicate higher phase modulation for multistage cascaded structures. A scaling scheme for applied optical power that leads to optimum phase modulation is also given for these structures. Cascaded configuration of Kerr modulators can be used for implementing low-power optical switching and amplification.
