Dr. Kevin S. C. Kuang
Assistant Professor at National Univ of Singapore
SPIE Involvement:
Author
Area of Expertise:
Optical fiber sensors , Structural Health Monitoring , Wireless Sensor Networks , Plastic optical fiber sensors , Damage Detection , Civil Engineering
Profile Summary

My personal research in SHM focused on the use of optical fiber sensors for civil engineering applications. I specialized in plastic optical fibers, in addition to FBG and other distributed fibre sensing. I have developed an optical fibre educational kit as well as a US patent on plastic optical fibre (POF) sensor (U.S. Patent Number 7496247).

He has published over 40 papers in international journals and conferences and has received more than 470 citations and an h-index of 11 (SCOPUS-self-citation excluded) for his work in optical fibre sensors in the past 10 years. He has been invited to give talks in the Institute of Engineers Singapore, SPRING Technical Conference, and Singapore Science Centre and presented his research in international tech
