My main research activity is on diode-pumped solid-state Lasers (DPSSL) from the visible to the infrared with emphasis on spatial and spectral laser mode control and laser resonator design. We have a tradition in working with fluoride solid-state laser materials, especially YLiF4, but we also research new laser materials and are specialized in material spectroscopy and computer simulation. Solid-state Raman lasers is another area where we have achieved some good results. The development of tailored light sources, especially for medical and dental application, is another area of interest of mine that has generated some well cited publications. Since 2008 I am specializing on light sources in disordered materials for applications in photonic devices. From 2013 to 2018 I was director of the Lasers and Applications center and currently my administrative duties include head of internationalization and deputy director of research of IPEN. My publication record (ISI Web of Science) includes over 120 international journal papers and over 140 full contributions in international congresses. I have written 1 book and 3 book chapters and published 6 patents on lasers and laser resonators. I also advised 35 master and 10 doctor students and supervised 10 post-doc students.
My papers have been cited over 2000 times and my h-index is 26 (SCOPUS).
