Samy Ghoniemy was born on March 27, 1967, in Giza, Egypt. He received his Bachelorwith excellent with honor, and Master of Engineering degrees in electrical engineering, in 1990 and 1996 respectively. He also attended a three-term condensed program studying optoelectronic courses in 1991. From 1991 to 2000 he was a Junior Lecturer. He received his PhD degree from the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada and nominated for the Senate Medal for the outstanding performance award from Carleton University, Canada. His primary research interest is optical computing, optical communications, optical and photonic networks and interconnects. He is currently an associate professor and is a Member of SPIE “The International Society for Optical Engineering”. Dr. Ghoniemy published more than 50 research papers.
